Q. Why join a trade association? How can it benefit me and my business? A.There's a lot to answer with that question. First, what is a trade association? It's a coalition, a unification of people and businesses engaged in a common trade, joined together to advance their industry and protect it from the control and influence of those outside our trade. Let's take this one step at a time. How does the Web Design and Developers Association protect the interests of ISPs and Internet Professionals? As an independent business you can represent only your interests, but, as a member of the WDDA you become part of an organization with an international membership! Q.How can the WDDA advance our trade? A.By raising the level of, and quality of product of all WDDA members. The WDDA can make available to all members information about changes and upgrades, and new ways of using our technology. This can be accomplished with periodic newsletters emailed to our membership. We can also inform you of new software that's available, where to get demos, and where and how to get copies. Although we can't promise that every company will cooperate, it should be noted that it is common practise for manufacturers to offer the members of associations in that industry substantial discounts on their products. Obviously one advantage of being in an association is that it gives you leverage - buying power. Being a Member also lets other know you are a step above the rest. It lets them know you adhere to a code of ethical business practice and are on top of the latest news and products in your industry. Q.This all sounds great, but I need business to survive. Can the WDDA help me? A.The Web Design and Developers Association encourages you to state in your own advertising that you are a Member of the WDDA. This is the ONLY way that the public can differentiate YOUR services from the rest. Q. How much does it cost? A. Membership, at least for the moment, is free. This is due to various Sponsors that support the WDDA and our Membership. Return the favor and show your support for them whenever possible! |
